I've been particularily interested in History since 2019, mostly due to the way I was taught it and just natural interest for contemporary history. As of now, it is my future career, and I aim to become a History teacher in middle schools and high schools in french-english schools.
My specific interest in History is World War One. It started on June 28th with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo by a serb nationalist who was against the annexation of the country. It escalated into a war of alliances between allies of each country: Austria-Hungary declares war on Serbia, Prussia declares war on Austria-Hungary, Germany declares war on Prussia, France declares war on Germany. Great Britain entered the war in protection of Belgium when the german army wanted to go through the country.
There are many songs and films about this war, a great book about it is "All Quiet on the Western Front" by Erich Maria Remarque. There are also movie adaptations of this book, dating back from 1930, 1979, and 2022. On spotify, many songs from the French radio in the WW1 period can be found. My favourite song regarding WW1 is La Chanson de Craonne interpreted by Baptiste W. Hamon and Clea Vincent. The interpretation by McDonnell Trio is also pleasing to listen to.
During the First World War, in 1915 the Armenian Genocide started in Turkey with a series of laws made by Taalat Pasha due to the belief that the Armenians were traitors affiliated with the Russians. This massacre led to around between 600,000–1.5 million Armenian deaths.
